About the role
The Neonatology Nurse Practitioner will provide direct patient care, within the limits prescribed by training, and in consultation with a supervising physician. They will assist with evaluating and managing follow up patients, maintain a panel of continuity care patients, assist with patient flow, see patients as requested by the attending physician, assist with procedures, perform nursing tasks, assist with patient follow-up, review laboratory reports, contact families, document patient care, assist with patient education, and demonstrate competency in specific age-related populations.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, within the limits prescribed by training, and in consultation with a supervising physician.
- Aid in evaluating and managing follow up patients.
- Maintain a panel of continuity care patients.
- Aid in patient flow by seeing patients as requested by the attending physician.
- Assist with procedures if triage nurses are unavailable.
- Perform urinary catheterization, venipuncture, and other nursing tasks as requested attending physician - i.e. NBS.
- Assist physicians and work with PA Team to care for patients needing consults, ongoing monitoring.
- Assist with patient follow-up.
- Review routine laboratory reports for abnormalities, notify responsible clinician according to degree of urgency.
- Contact families to return for further evaluation or treatment of conditions detected by screening.
- Document all aspects of patient care promptly.
- Aid in planning, developing, and implementing of patient education activities.
- Demonstrate competency in knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to specific age-related populations (i.e. Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
Requirements
- Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Current Advance Practice Nursing licensure in the State of New Jersey.
- Currently CDS and DEA required.
- Master's degree in nursing required.
- Two (2) years' experience in specialty strongly preferred.
- Certified as a nurse practitioner in the State of New Jersey within area of specialty.
- BLS, PALS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.

Pay
Salary Range: 128,502.00 - 205,608.00 USD
Schedule
Part time (80 hours/pay period), mix of 8, 12, 24 hours, days/nights
