About the role

The Nemours Neonatology team is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join their expanding NICU in Wilmington, Delaware. The NICU is set to expand in 2026, adding 14 new inpatient rooms, bringing the total to 45 beds as a contiguous unit. Shifts are rotating and include holiday commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages and provides care for neonates requiring neonatal intensive care under the direction of neonatologists.
  • Initiates appropriate interventions upon receiving a distressed neonate in the Delivery Room.
  • Conducts a complete newborn physical examination and assesses gestational age, distinguishing between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Collaborates with neonatologists regarding historical events, physical findings, and diagnostic/therapeutic measures.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory tests and procedures as needed.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary for neonatal care, including temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy.
  • Reviews and provides general care items involved in neonatal care, such as temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy.
  • Participates in daily rounds in the NICU.

Qualifications

  • PA-C with a minimum of 2 years Neonatal experience preferred.
  • Must have neonatal experience or have completed a Neonatal Fellowship.
  • Current unrestricted Physician Assistant License to practice in the state(s) in which privileges are sought.
  • National Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and NRP Certification.
