Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - Transport - Rotating Shift
About the role
Children’s Nebraska has an exciting opportunity to join our Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Transport team. Our NNPs work collaboratively with flight nurses to provide state-of-the-art neonatal care, utilizing fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and critical care ground ambulances throughout Nebraska and surrounding states.
Responsibilities
- Manage the care and transport of neonates from referring facilities
- Utilize an advanced nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Accurately document patient responses and outcomes
- Proficient in neonatal pathophysiology and technical skills, including lab and x-ray interpretation, intubation, line placement, thoracentesis, thoracotomy, and intraosseous access
- Collaborate with physicians and referral teams to demonstrate strong leadership through nursing judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
- Maintain professional conduct and communication as an advocate for patients and families
- Ensure cost-effective resource utilization with knowledge of healthcare economics
Requirements
- Education as required by Department of Health and Human Services-Regulation and Licensure Credentialing Division as represented by APRN licensure in the State of Nebraska
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Critical Care
- Experience can be satisfied as a Critical Care RN, Critical Care APRN, or combination of both
- Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatrics preferred
- Licenses and certifications: BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association, PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days, NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 180 Days, NNP-BC - Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Board Certified, DEA License within 30 Days, Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, Must be able to work in an environment which includes the use of ambulance, helicopter, and airplane patient transport vehicles
- Must be able to work in an environment which includes the use of ambulance, helicopter, and airplane patient transport vehicles that results in exposure to non-conventional motions, noise, vibration, fumes and extreme heat/cold
- Must be able to meet the weight requirement for aircraft used by the organization
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field
- Licensure: APRN licensure in the State of Nebraska
- Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in Critical Care
- Experience can be satisfied as a Critical Care RN, Critical Care APRN, or combination of both
- Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatrics preferred

Pay
$15,000 hiring bonus and relocation available to those who qualify!
Schedule
Full Time, 12-hour shifts / 7-7 (rotating) 12-hour night OR 12-hour day scheduling options available.

As a free-standing hospital with over 75 years of service, we provide exceptional care to children nationwide, including our 52-bed Level 4 NICU. Our CAMTS-accredited transport team, comprised of NNPs, Flight Nurses, and Emergency Medical Technicians, works collaboratively to deliver outstanding patient care. We operate four ground ambulances and often utilize Children’s Hospital dedicated air assets such as an EC130 helicopter and a Pilatus PC-12 fixed-wing aircraft.

About The Team
The Critical Care Transport team at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center is available 24 hours a day to provide state-of-the-art care and transportation to pediatric patients ranging from extreme prematurity through adolescence. We are the only team in Nebraska specializing in the stabilization and care of neonatal and pediatric patients. Transportation is available by a dedicated ambulance, helicopter, or fixed-wing plane, allowing us to provide extended coverage to patients throughout the region to any higher level of care.
