Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
About the role
The Nemours Neonatology team is expanding this year, adding 14 new inpatient rooms to the NICU in Wilmington, Delaware. The NICU will now house 46 beds as a contiguous unit. Shifts are rotating or nights, with holiday commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages and provides care for neonates requiring neonatal intensive care, collaborating with team members under the direction of neonatologists.
- Initiates appropriate interventions for distressed neonates in the Delivery Room.
- Performs newborn physical examinations and assessments, taking family histories, and conducting parent interviews.
- Collaborates with neonatologists on historical events, physical findings, and diagnostic/therapeutic measures.
- Orders appropriate laboratory tests and procedures, and performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Provides general neonatal care, including temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy.
- Participates in rounds in the NICU.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years Neonatal NP/Physician Assistant experience preferred.
- NNP: Current unrestricted Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License to practice in Delaware; Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification via National Certification Center; BLS and NRP Certification upon hire.
- PA-C: Current unrestricted Physician Assistant License to practice in Delaware; National Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Must have neonatal experience or completed a Neonatal Fellowship.
- Current American Heart Association BLS and NRP Certification.

Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, a 220-bed facility located in Wilmington, serves as a Level IV NICU and the only Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center in the state.
