About the role

The Division of Neonatology at Lurie Children's, nationally-ranked by U.S.News & World Report, provides the highest level of care to the most critically ill newborns in the region.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert clinical care, education, consultation, advocacy research, leadership and mentorship.
• Manages primary, acute and chronic health problems through comprehensive history and physical examination assessment and diagnosis.
• Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures.
• Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
• Promotes the advancement of the profession at Lurie Children’s and the community-at-large.
• Collaborates and coordinates care with medical team to deliver evidenced-based care and establish best practices in clinical care.
• Participates in research design, implementation, and interpretation.
• Maintains clinical privileges through credentialing by the Medical Staff Office.
• Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers, and others.

Requirements

Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APRN/PA is required.

Clinical privileges through credentialing by the Medical Staff Office achieved within 90 days of hire.

Master's degree or higher from an accredited school appropriate for certification as a NursePractitioner Physician Assistant.

Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.

Basic Life Support certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification and/or other specialty certification is required in some areas within 6 months of employment.

Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
