Neonatal ICU – APP Fellowship – Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

Responsibilities

• Care for neonates in collaboration with Attending Neonatologists, other APPs and Residents while maintaining a high level of autonomy to achieve desired patient outcomes
• Gains clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence
• Documents pertinent findings in patient record
• Orders and interprets radiographic, laboratory and other diagnostic tests
• Obtains medical history and performs comprehensive physical examinations
• Instructs and counsels patients and families in collaboration with other health team members
• Performs routine and emergency procedures such as umbilical line placement, endotracheal intubation, central line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, circumcision, delivery room stabilization, and neonate management
• Serves as a consultant to the birth center and newborn nursery, covering provider responsibilities
• Covers care of well newborns as needed
• Writes medication and other medical orders
• Coordinates and manages discharges from the NICU in conjunction with Care Coordinators and Attending Neonatologist
• Provides education for NP and PA students, APP Fellows and residents on rotation in the NICU
• Involvement in Quality Improvement (QI) or Research Track is required
• Presents throughout fellowship that includes – Journal Club, Case Presentations, QI or Research Presentation and Literature Review Presentation

Requirements

• NP/PA Full Time position, Monday – Thursday, Holidays – required two
• Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
• Required a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner

Pay

Range: $65,125.00 - $84,662.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
