Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) | School of Medicine - Pediatrics, Level III

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages care for neonates with moderate health conditions or recovering from serious conditions under supervision of an attending neonatologist.
  • Attends and assists with routine and high-risk deliveries for neonates in collaboration with a larger medical team.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to identify and stabilize at-risk infants and establish a care plan.
  • Assesses patients by obtaining comprehensive perinatal histories and performing physical assessments, interpreting findings.
  • Performs or orders diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for newborns with required physician supervision.
  • Thoroughly documents all aspects of patient care using established charting procedures.
  • Serves as a consultant on the care of chronically ill infants or those with complex medical problems.
  • Aids in family education and participates in outreach education activities by teaching classes.
  • Aids in staff orientation and serves as a preceptor.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) program, Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (AC-PNP) program, or Physician Assistant (PA) program.
    • Experience working as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant in ICU or ICU-like settings.
    • Currently licensed as an acute care advanced practice provider in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body, or certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • At least one year of direct experience in neonatology is preferred.
    • BLS and NRP certifications are required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s prepared Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with APRN licensure in GA.
    • Master’s prepared Physician Assistant with APRN licensure in GA.
    • Related experience preferred.
