NEMT Driver

About the role

This part-time, on-site NEMT Driver role is based in Akron, OH.

Responsibilities

• Transport passengers to and from medical appointments, pharmacies, therapy sessions, and other approved destinations, ensuring safe and timely arrival.
• Absorb passengers with boarding and exiting vehicles as needed.
• Secure mobility devices.
• Follow all safety and compliance procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-organized vehicles.
• Keep accurate trip logs.
• Communicate professionally with dispatchers, passengers, and healthcare facilities.
• Follow scheduled routes.
• Adapt to changing pickup times.
• Demonstrate patience and courtesy in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to provide safe and responsible driving, including a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact respectfully and patiently with passengers of diverse backgrounds and mobility needs.
• Capacity to assist passengers safely, including helping with mobility devices and navigating stairs or ramps when needed.
• Reliability in following schedules, documenting trips accurately, and communicating clearly with dispatch and supervisors.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle safety checks and willingness to maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness.
• Ability to pass required background checks, drug screenings, and any state or local NEMT certification or training requirements.
• Comfort working in varying weather conditions and lifting or supporting light to moderate weight as necessary.
• Previous experience in transportation, healthcare support, or caregiving is beneficial but not required.
