About the Role

We are currently seeking a Needs Assessor to work on a full-time weekend (nights) basis (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). The Needs Assessor provides telephone and walk-in risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process including insurance pre-certification, and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide telephone and walk-in risk assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Conduct initial contact with referral sources and potential patients.
  • Coordinate the referral and intake process.
  • Determine appropriate level of care for patients.
  • Facilitate the admission process, including insurance pre-certification.
  • Maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree required in a behavioral health field or credentials/education as a Registered Nurse.
  • Prior intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting (preferred).
  • LCSW / LPC / LMFT / RN, Advance Practice Mental Health Professional license is highly preferred.
  • CPR Certification.

Skills

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment.
  • Understanding of psychiatric diagnoses and basic chemical dependency.
  • Knowledge of age-specific growth and development.
  • Crisis and behavior management skills.
