About the Role

Magellan Aerospace, Middletown has an opportunity for a Nondestructive Test Technician Level II to conduct radiographic and ultrasonic testing on metal parts to determine if parts meet nondestructive specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Follow work instructions to set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method.
  • Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
  • Provide necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level I personnel.
  • Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method as used by Magellan Aerospace.
  • When specified, develop work instructions from approved general procedures, requiring final approval by a Level III certified in the method.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.

Requirements

  • Two-year certificate from college or technical school; 3-4 years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 40 hours of Radiographic (R/T) Inspection Method Training.
  • 12 months of experience in Radiographic (R/T) Inspection.
  • 40 hours of Ultrasonic (U/T) Inspection Method Training.
  • Certification in both inspection methods.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as solid geometry and apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Occasionally required to talk or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position requires access to technical data and may necessitate obtaining export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce or the U.S. Department of State. Hires for this position—except U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, and protected individuals—will be required to go through an export licensing review process.
