Airbus Helicopters, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented NDT Quality Inspection Specialist to join our Quality Assurance team in Grand Prairie, TX. In this role, you will perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to inspect, evaluate, and certify structural components and sub-assemblies, ensuring flight safety.

You will serve as a critical defense line for flight safety, working in a dynamic environment focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency. Our team ensures the highest standards of care and safety are built into each aircraft we assemble and maintain.

Responsibilities

  • Part Processing (40%): Apply NDT methods to inspect and certify parts for cracks. Implement work instructions from approved documents (Inspection Document (DI), Technical Sheet (FT), Work Card (CT), etc.). Prepare parts, detail results, and evaluate products for acceptance or rejection.
  • Qualification of the room and equipment (30%): Maintain NDT equipment, collect reference specimens, and perform concentration and contamination checks.
  • Count & Surface Preparation of Parts (20%): Validate inclusion of parts, degrease using detergent wash, and rinse with ultrasonic water.
  • Documentation (10%): Complete maintenance records, certify pass/fail inspections, and update SAP labor tracking.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of proven NDT testing experience in at least one NDT method or four (4) years as a certificated aviation maintenance technician (AMT) on aircraft components/systems.
  • A&P license or ability to obtain a repairman certificate within 3 months of employment.
  • Qualified to advise and perform inspections in required methods; ability to demonstrate proficiency to Level III within 90 days.
  • Ability to apply detailed techniques within qualification requirements and read/understand technical/regulatory documentation.
  • Knowledge of NDT methods and their applications/limits for locating defects in aircraft structures/components.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or G Suite.
  • 5% domestic and international travel required.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements

  • Vision: Near vision acuity (20/25 or Jaeger #1) with periodic exams (annually). Ability to distinguish colors for inspection methods. Read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings daily.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear conversations, teleconferences, and production floor sounds (e.g., safety alarms) daily.
  • Speaking: Participate in conversations, meetings, and communications (10% of the day).
  • Equipment Operation: Operate computers, phones, copiers, and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts) consistently.
  • Mobility:
    • Carrying: Documents, tools, or equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg consistently.
    • Pushing/Pulling: Small office furniture and tools consistently.
    • Sitting: Extended periods in meetings or at a computer (10% of the day).
    • Squatting/Kneeling: Retrieve/replace items from low shelving consistently.
    • Standing: Discussions in offices or on the production floor consistently.
    • Walking: Through office/production areas (including uneven surfaces) consistently.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and gloves as required by task.
  • Chemical Exposure: Ability to work around NDT chemicals with required PPE daily.
