NDT Level 2 - 2nd Shift - Repair Solutions

About the Role

Under minimal supervision, the NDT Tech II performs basic nondestructive testing to verify the structural integrity of Titanium and Aluminum Rotating Hardware. This position uses conventional and automated ultrasonic, radiographic, Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), and other NDT test methods (e.g., FPI) to evaluate aircraft parts and interpret test results in accordance with customer requirements. This role is designated as safety-sensitive under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT tests on various rotating hardware.
• Undergo training in NDT methods to achieve Level 2 certification in Eddy Current, Fluorescent Penetrant, Radiographic, and Ultrasonic Testing to Specification NAS-410.
• Implement procedures, instructions, and techniques as required.
• Conduct control checks on test method capability.
• Document and advise local team members of test outcomes.
• Review and implement customer requirements, including engineering drawings, process specifications, and industry standards.
• Develop and maintain processes, test methodology, and procedures.
• Understand manufacturing methods and part construction as they relate to NDT data.
• Operate ultrasonic equipment, such as A-scan and resonance scopes, phased array equipment, and automated scanning systems.
• Operate X-ray equipment, including robotic scanners and computed radiography data acquisition systems.
• Use other test equipment, such as eddy current scopes and helium mass spectrometers.
• Identify and investigate new technologies, processes, and procedures to maintain or improve NDT capabilities and efficiencies.
• Interface with engineers, internal and external customers, manufacturing personnel, and management to improve processes.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and instruction to other NDT technicians.
• Integrate improvements to realize benefits in cost, cycle time, and customer satisfaction.
• Perform other assignments and tasks as directed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience utilizing Non-Destructive Testing in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder due to program security clearance requirements and/or SSA requirements.
• Proficiency in English (verbal and written) to understand and follow safety procedures, company policies, work instructions, and operations manuals.
• Reliable and satisfactory attendance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• GKN experience.
• Previous experience in an FAA Repair work-center.
• Project/Program Management experience.
• Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent.
• Experience in nondestructive testing training of metallic and/or nonmetallic materials in a classroom setting.
• Approved accumulated hours of on-the-job training and/or certification.
• Must acquire and maintain nondestructive testing certification by passing required written and practical examinations.

Pay

The compensation range is between $28.00 and $32.00 per hour.
