About the Role

Responsible for performing, evaluating and documenting the results of VT, PT, MT and UT inspections on surface ships and submarine structures / piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform NDT inspections using methods such as visual testing (VT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT) and ultrasonic testing (UT).
  • Calibrate and operate NDT equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot inspection equipment as needed.
  • Conduct quality control checks on materials and components.
  • Verify compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Analyze and interpret inspection data to identify defects, anomalies, or discontinuities.
  • Record and maintain comprehensive documentation of inspection procedures, results, and findings.
  • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and internal standards.
  • Adhere to and promote safety protocols during inspection activities.
  • Collaborate with the project team to plan and execute inspections.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Lead NDT Inspector.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Level II NDT certification in all methods (VT, PT, MT and UT).
  • Additional certifications such as ASNT Level II or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • OSHA 10 (Company may provide).
  • Familiarity with various industry codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in operating and calibrating NDT equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise inspection reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety protocols in NDT inspections.

Working Conditions

  • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly). Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Some travel required.

Equipment Used

  • Personal computer and associated office equipment.
  • VT, PT, MT and UT inspection equipment.
  • Calibrated measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Industrial fall protection systems as required (company will provide training).

Pay

$40.00–$50.00 per hour, DOE.
