About the role
The Non-Destructive Testing Lab (NDT) supports the shipyard by providing all necessary NDT services as per specifications, drawings, standard procedures, and regulatory agencies. Services include Radiography (R/T), Ultrasonic Testing (U/T), Magnetic Particle Testing (M/T), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Chemical Spot Testing, Metal Monitor Testing, Hardness Testing, Cathodic Protection Surveys, Metallurgical Sample Preparation and Analysis, Eddy Current Testing, and review and final approval of all subcontractor-provided radiographs and NDT procedures.
Responsibilities
- Must be proficient as a Level II in at least two major methods (MT, PT, RT, or UT)
- Perform on-the-job training for Level I employees
- Perform NDT in accordance with applicable procedures
- Perform specific setup and calibration of equipment
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent with related experience in NDT or at least two years of engineering or science study
- Level II certification by examination
Qualifications
- Must have a 5-year certificate in ASNT IRRSP or equivalent radiation safety
Skills
- Proficiency in at least two major NDT methods (Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Dye Penetrant Testing, Chemical Spot Testing, Metal Monitor Testing, Hardness Testing, Eddy Current Testing)
