NDI Technician Level 3

Job Summary

Entry level role to learn the following Level 3 certified tasks:

• Using analysis techniques to evaluate the properties of materials, components or systems without causing damage.
• Utilizing Non-Destructive inspection methods (ultrasonic) to verify parts and processes are in compliance with customer engineering requirements.
• Establishing techniques from approved general procedure or work instructions for final approval.
• Conducting system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards.
• Providing necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees.
• Performing audit surveillance on non-destructive inspection processes and initiating and documenting any non-conformances according to specification, process and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Interpreting codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s).
• Selecting the method and technique for a specific test.
• Preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
• Approving NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
• Having a general knowledge of other NDT methods, product manufacturing, and their related sequencing, and test technologies used by Airbus Kinston.
• Providing or directing training, examination, and certification of personnel.
• Conducting NDT for the acceptance of parts and documenting the results if a demonstration of proficiency in this ability was included in the practical examination.
• Auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met.

Qualified Experience and Training

• Education:
• Required: 1 of 3 No education requires 4 yrs Level 2 certified experience.
• Successful Completion of two years of engineering or physical science study program at a technical school, college or university requires 2 yrs Level 2 certified experience.
• Four-year physical science or engineering undergraduate degree. Requires 1 yr Level 2 certified experience.
• ASNT Ultrasonic Level 3 Certification Experience: Required: Minimum two years of directly related Ultrasonic NDI experience (documented).
