NDI Technician I
Primary Responsibilities
Performs non-destructive tests (NDT) on materials, manufactured items, or components.
Inspects metallic and non-metallic materials, parts, and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography, and magnetic particle.
Knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conducts tests, per written and verbal instructions as required.
Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method in which they are certified.
Familiar with codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method.
Knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection technology.
Absorbs and assists in the design of special test fixtures and test setups.
Experience/Education/Skills
- High School Diploma or Recognized Equivalent
- College Science courses or equivalent education background (need not have a degree)
- Ability to successfully pass Level I certification examinations and requirements.
- Current Level I certification preferred, but not required.
- Computer and technical writing skills (i.e.: MS Word, Excel, MS Paint, or equivalent).
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Some understanding of electronics, test equipment, mechanical test methods, and materials characteristics.
- An understanding of composite manufacturing/product optional, but preferred.
