NDE Inspector (Level I/II)

About the role

The NDE Inspector performs visual and non-destructive inspections on fabricated steel components throughout production and prior to shipment, including PT, MT, and UT methods in accordance with company procedures, customer specifications, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final visual and NDT inspections.
  • Conduct Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) in accordance with written procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company Quality Management System (QMS), customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Complete inspection reports accurately and on time.
  • Identify and clearly mark nonconforming welds, dimensions, or materials.
  • Create bubble drawings and AP documentation.
  • Prepare Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMRs) and assist with corrective actions.
  • Communicate quality concerns to the Shop Supervisor, Project Manager, and Director of Quality Assurance.
  • Support root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain NDT equipment in clean, calibrated, and operational condition.
  • Maintain current certifications and required training.

Qualifications

  • Level I or Level II NDT certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing non-destructive testing preferred.
  • Ability to perform calibrations, inspections, evaluations, and acceptance/rejection decisions according to written procedures.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results under Level II or III oversight when required.
  • Successfully pass required vision, written, and practical examinations for applicable NDT certification levels.
  • Experience working in steel fabrication, heavy manufacturing, machining, or welding environments preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Proficient using tape measures, fillet weld gauges, and inspection measuring equipment.
  • Basic understanding of metric measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.

Preferred Experience

  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT/NDE): 1+ year
  • Steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing inspection
  • Microsoft Word: 1+ year
