Join Comfort Zone Camp as a volunteer and make a difference in the life of a grieving child by becoming a mentor. Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit organization providing free therapeutic grief programs for young people ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, guardian, or sibling. The programs combine traditional, fun camp activities with age-based support groups to break the emotional isolation grief often brings, offering a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth.

About the role

During this four-hour volunteer training session, you will meet Comfort Zone staff, campers, and volunteers to learn what to expect at camp and how the program impacts grieving children and teens. The training includes education about childhood bereavement and tips for success in your volunteer role.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Big Buddy Mentor (matched 1:1 with a camper)
  • Nurse
  • Healing Circle Leader (grief support group facilitator)
  • Photographer
  • General Camp Volunteer (logistical support staff)

Requirements

  • Must be at least 15 years of age to volunteer.
  • Annual updates of Health History, Confidentiality, and Criminal Background Checks are required for volunteers 18 and older.
  • Up to 90 individuals are needed for each camp session in a variety of roles.

Schedule

Weekends (Saturdays - Sundays, all day) on August 8, 2026.
