The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to advanced naval and maritime ships, as well as special purpose platforms. Our Virginia Beach office supports the Navy at NSWC and RMC’s, located at 2696 Reliance Drive, Suite 100, Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Support shipboard IC Systems tasks including Pre INSURV Assessment (PIA), Combat Systems, Command, Control, Communications and Computer Readiness Assessment (C5RA), Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA), Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP), Inspection and Survey (INSURV) programs, and Tech Assist (T/A) events.
  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, plans, and system specifications and test procedures.
  • Assist Ship's Force technicians and government personnel in analyzing and resolving malfunctions detected during equipment operation and test.
  • Observe and conduct equipment checks, noting conditions and parameters for out-of-specification readings or settings; provide technical oversight on corrective maintenance actions.
  • Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements.
  • Provide on-the-job training to Ships Force during shipboard evolutions.
  • Suggest equipment/system engineering changes to improve quality, reliability, and facilitate installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Formal Electronic Technician (ET) training from a Technical or U.S. Navy "C" school and 6+ years of job-related experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Integrated Bridge Navigation System (IBNS), Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Scalable Integrated Bridge System (S-IBS), NAVSSI, AN/URN-25 & 32 Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) System, AN/WSN-7 Inertial Navigation System.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years recent hands-on experience on each of the listed systems.
  • Knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes, and reporting methods.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to discern color-coded wiring.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks including prolonged standing, kneeling, bending, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and pulling wires and cables through conduits.
  • Ability to wear required safety gear (e.g., goggles, gloves, hard hats).
  • Ability to access and navigate all areas of naval/maritime facilities and ships.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.

Pay

$30–$40 per hour based on experience.
