About the role
The position supports Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Code 541, the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for U.S. Navy Ship Navigation Systems and Navy ECDIS Controls. Based at Naval Station Mayport, FL, this position is the waterfront technical presence for the ECDIS-N/NECDIS aboard ships homeported in the southeast region.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site and onboard technical and troubleshooting support for ECDIS-N/NECDIS and associated navigation equipment aboard ships homeported at Mayport and other fleet locations;
- Respond to fleet and naval activity requests for assistance in resolving system and equipment-level issues.
- Deliver technical training on the operation, maintenance, and testing of supported navigation systems to ship's force and shore activity personnel;
- Develop and maintain associated training materials in coordination with the ISEA.
- Conduct ship checks and ship surveys in advance of ship alterations and in support of issue resolution.
- Perform and manage alteration redlines onboard naval ships;
- Develop, redline, and review installation drawings and installation procedures.
- Perform shipboard software loads on Windows and Linux operating systems;
- Provide scheduling and installation support for modifications and alterations in support of sustainment and modernization efforts.
- Provide on-site support for execution of test plans and procedures, including pier-side dock trials, at-sea trials, and SOVT events.
- Prepare original documentation involving the operation, maintenance, and testing of naval ship navigation and HM&E electronic equipment and systems, including test and trip reports.
- Assist in identifying, tracking, and resolving equipment obsolescence and configuration issues;
- Support configuration management artifacts for installed systems.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to junior navigation systems technicians supporting the task order.
Requirements
- Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent;
- Minimum ten (10) years of engineering or computer experience with the operation, test, maintenance, and repair of naval Navigation Systems, ECDIS-N/NECDIS, and associated equipment systems;
- Experience in the preparation of original technical documentation involving the operation, maintenance, or testing of naval ship HM&E electronic equipment and systems;
- Experience performing and managing alteration redlines on board naval ships;
- Ability to deliver formal and informal technical training to military and civilian personnel;
- Willingness to travel up to 40% to CONUS/OCONUS fleet locations, shipyards, and NSWCPD Philadelphia as tasking requires.
Qualifications

Skills
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems in shipboard environments;
- Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance practices (scans, patching) for shipboard systems;
- Ability to work in an industrial shipboard/shipyard environment, climb shipboard ladders and wear all required safety equipment;
- Able to lift (up to 50lb), carry, and transport heavy equipment and materials as required;
- Able to meet U.S. Navy shiprider requirements.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This position requires up to 40% travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations.
