About the role

Serves as a Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger) for a multi-purpose water resource project responsible for supporting natural resource management, recreation operations, environmental stewardship, public safety, and emergency response activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages recreation facilities and public lands
  • Assists with environmental compliance and shoreline management programs
  • Enforces federal regulations
  • Conducts public outreach and interpretive programs
  • Supports dam safety and emergency operations
  • Works closely with federal, state, and local agencies
  • Protects and enhances natural and cultural resources
  • Provides quality recreational opportunities for the public
  • Requires weekend, holiday, and emergency response work
  • Involves extensive outdoor activity in varying weather and terrain conditions

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience performing the following:
  • Patrolling the park to prevent unauthorized use, trespassing, or destruction of property
  • Participating in natural resources activities, such as fish/wildlife management, forestry/vegetation management, soil/water conservation, or fire protection

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position
  • Experience: One year of specialized experience performing the following:
  • Implementing natural resource management actions involving fish/wildlife, forestry/vegetation management, range land/soil conservation, water/fire protection, or an agricultural lease program
