About the role
Located at Maintenance Facility (15150 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344). Reports to Forestry and Natural Resources Supervisor. Part-time, temporary/seasonal, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Identify, prioritize, and perform invasive species removal including herbicide treatments in natural areas.
- Assist with planning and implementing restoration projects and plant surveys.
- Respond to noxious weed/tall grass complaints by inspecting, documenting, and mailing notifications.
- Maintain records using Field Maps (ArcGIS).
- Assist with planning and implementation of environmental volunteer events including tree plantings, invasive species removal, and harvesting native prairie seed.
- Aid in Forestry activities such as diseased tree program, maintaining newly planted and young trees, and tree inventory.
- Perform a variety of duties as part of the team, including tasks outside the primary focus of the role.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required.
- Working toward completion of a degree in Forestry & Natural Resources Management, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
- Completion of a general Botany course or similar to demonstrate plant identification ability.
- Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record required.
- Proficient user of basic technology or MS Office; prior use and understanding of ArcGIS is preferred.
- Experience working in an outdoor environment, knowledge of trees and plants, and comfort using herbicides.
- Valid Minnesota Department of Agriculture pesticide applicators license (Categories A, F, and J) required within one month of employment.
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 30-50 lbs., operate a motor vehicle, read maps and compass, walk on even surfaces, and work under all weather conditions.
- Successful completion of the City’s pre-employment process, including professional reference checks, background check, driver’s license check, work verification, and education verification if applicable.

- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple activities, responsibilities, and tasks simultaneously in a professional manner.

Pay
$16.00 - $19.00 per hour (depending on qualifications).
Schedule
Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM; may vary based on business need.
