Natural Resource Specialist 1 - FFR Forester - Limited Duration

About the role

This is a limited duration with a rotation opportunity (internal state employees). This position may end 7/1/2027, and has the potential to become permanent. The position will be located in Grants Pass.

Responsibilities

• Aid the Unit Forester in achieving Federal Forest Restoration management objectives.
• Assist with Timber Sale Preparation, Administration of Timber Sale Contracts, Forest Management Planning, Reforestation and Intensive Management, and general Forest Administration.
• The primary emphasis of this position is on Timber Sale Preparation.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Forestry or closely related Natural Resource Area OR Three years of experience in Forestry or a closely related Natural Resource Area.
• Note: Driver’s License Check – This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for official State business.

Qualifications

• Experience gathering and analyzing technical or scientific information and drawing conclusions or making recommendations.
• Experience communicating verbally and in writing with a variety of people to answer questions and explain information.
• Experience writing clear and concise status, summary, technical, or narrative reports.
• Experience with computers and GIS, including software such as ESRI GIS, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
• Experience in forest management including timber sale layout, cruising, logging system design, stand exam plots, reforestation, and other related activities.
• Ability to be highly motivated working independently and efficiently on multiple tasks and issues.

Pay

Salary Determination Per the Pay Equity Law passed in 2017, a pay equity analysis for starting salary will be conducted to determine what pay step the successful candidate will be offered. The analysis will be based on the submitted materials and the time of application. No other documents will be accepted after submission of application. Please include any relevant information and materials if you wish to be compensated accordingly.

Schedule

Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODF will use E-Verify to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
