About the role
The Natural Gas Trader will join ExxonMobil's Americas Gas & Power Trading group in the West Region Book. Reporting directly to the West Book Lead, this position offers access to a large energy company's extensive physical asset base, supply portfolio, and market intelligence.
This role involves executing physical natural gas trades across prompt and near-term markets in the Western U.S., managing and optimizing physical gas transport and storage assets, and collaborating with various teams to maximize book positioning.
Responsibilities
- Execute physical natural gas trades across prompt and near-term markets in the Western U.S., including key hubs and basis markets relevant to the region
- Manage and optimize physical gas transport and storage assets, ensuring maximum value creation
- Develop and manage counterparty relationships with producers and end-users
- Analyze supply/demand fundamentals, pipeline flows, storage, and weather to inform trading strategy
- Collaborate with scheduling, risk management, origination, and market analytics teams to optimize book positioning
- Contribute to the growth and development of the West region book in alignment with the broader Americas Gas & Power strategy
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in physical natural gas trading
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Understanding of Western U.S. gas markets, infrastructure, and basin dynamics
- Demonstrated analytical ability and commercial instinct
