About the Role
This position involves providing health education and support to Native American women with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD), focusing on cancer screenings and overall wellness. Responsibilities
- Complete required Institutional Review Board training and other institutionally mandated trainings.
- Obtain and/or design health education programs and data collection training for individual and community education.
- Support recruitment and consent of research participants, including eligibility screening and scheduling education sessions.
- Provide assistance and advisement on cancer screenings and needs of Native American women with IDD.
- Conduct caregiver/support person orientation sessions for each client before the program.
- Deliver six sessions of the education program to Native American women with IDD and their support persons.
- Document all case management encounters in clients' electronic health records.
- Maintain active working relationships with tribal and non-tribal agencies for referral and care coordination.
- Plan and deliver group education sessions on-site and in community settings, focusing on contract scope topics.
- Educate staff from other organizations about TIC services and client referral processes.
- Participate in planning and evaluating Wellness Department activities.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the political, cultural, and socio-economic environment of urban Native American communities in Southern Arizona.
- Awareness of and respect for the diversity of Native cultures and traditions.
- Working knowledge of community resources and ability to establish and maintain relationships with other organizations.
- Ability to conduct basic research, collect, organize, and manage data efficiently.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of participant information and sensitive data.
- Proficiency in operating computers, digital copiers, and other modern office machines.
- Effective communication skills with clients, staff, and external partners.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive documents professionally.
- Maintain high standards of client confidentiality.
