National Travel Nurse (RN)

About the Role

Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director or Registered Nurse for medical matters and the Health Services Operations Manager for administrative matters, this role participates in the promotion and restoration of patients' health. The position collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members and provides support to patients and all centers within New Season as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supplies and administers medication pursuant to physician order and records dosage administered in the medical record.
• Conducts a daily sight and count of the medication supply inventory; maintains absolute accuracy in accounting for medication supplied or administered.
• Assumes responsibility for safeguarding medication inventory.
• Collects fees and performs daily cash reconciliation in the absence of a cashier; ensures all cash collected is given to the Program Director daily.
• Receives and verifies the accuracy of incoming medication shipments; advises staff of any discrepancies in a timely fashion.
• Ensures disposal of medical waste through proper protocol.
• Observes patient demeanor prior to dosing and seeks guidance from the Medical Director or Registered Nurse when concerns arise.
• Communicates patient issues or concerns promptly to the Medical Director, Registered Nurse, or Program Director as appropriate.
• Contacts other centers to verify dosages as needed.
• Administers appropriate lab tests, including patient vital signs, TB tests, and collects data for review by the Medical Director or RN.
• Schedules and screens patients to be seen by the Medical Director.
• Assists the Medical Director in collecting data for history and physical exams as required.
• Makes medical record entries as directed by the Medical Director or RN, consistent with clinic protocol.
• Complies with federal and state privacy rules, including 42 CFR Part 2 and 45 CFR Parts 160 and 164, as well as clinic policies and procedures.
• Obtains and maintains proper licensure and/or certification according to state requirements.
• Actively participates in CARF preparation and state audit processes.
• Participates in all staff meetings.
• Complies with all local, state, federal, and company rules, regulations, and policies.
• Acts in the best interest of patients, the program, and the company; honors, supports, and protects proprietary rights.
• Interfaces with the public and patients by answering phones, greeting visitors, and monitoring patient activities on center premises.
• Provides nurse services for multiple clinical locations as assigned and needed.
• Receives and ensures medical orders are documented, signed by the physician, and understood by relevant staff.
• Maintains absolute control, tracking, and confidentiality of all patient medical paperwork.
• Performs other duties as required or directed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of direct patient contact experience.
• Prior experience in a clinical environment is helpful.
• Compact RN License required.
• Multi-state compact RN licensure and CPR certification.
• Understanding of opiate addiction, medical terminology, and general nursing knowledge and techniques.
• Basic mathematics skills and computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft and Google products.
• Basic typing skills.
