About the role

The purpose of the job is to support the organization’s tax compliance and reporting functions by assisting in the timely preparation, filing, and reconciliation of direct and indirect taxes, maintaining accurate tax records, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws, and providing operational support for tax audits and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and handle Income Tax, Sales Tax, Sindh Sales Tax, and Property Tax matters.
• Ensure timely filing of periodical sales tax returns, withholding statements, and other regulatory compliances.
• Handle tax-related court cases, assessments, appeals, and legal references at various forums.
• Liaise with tax consultants, lawyers, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
• Oversee the filing, processing, and following up of refund claims.
• Manage electronic filings and liaise with authorities to obtain exemption certificates.
• Manage and coordinate internal and external tax audits together with timely responses to FBR’s notices.
• Ensure implementation of new tax laws and amendments.
• Maintain systematic, up-to-date tax records and coordinate with Accounts Department to keep the accounting records reconciled with tax records.
• Respond to tax-related queries from authorities, internal departments, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, or Taxation and/or qualification from a recognized institute of professional accountants.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in tax compliance, audit handling, and litigation.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws.
• Expertise in electronic tax filings, audits, and legal compliance.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite. SAP skills will be considered an added advantage.
