About the role
We are seeking an experienced National Commercial Underwriter to support complex commercial and national commercial title insurance transactions across multiple jurisdictions. This role focuses on high-value, multi-state commercial real estate deals, partnering with lenders, developers, investors, and legal professionals nationwide.
Candidates must be able to work onsite in our Minnetonka, MN office three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and resolve complex title issues and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Review title commitments, policies, endorsements, surveys, legal descriptions, liens, easements, and ownership documentation.
- Underwrite commercial and national commercial title insurance transactions.
- Manage multiple transactions simultaneously with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate effectively with attorneys, lenders, developers, investors, and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in the title insurance industry, with demonstrated experience in commercial title underwriting, title examination, or commercial real estate transactions.
- Strong understanding of title insurance principles, commercial underwriting practices, and real estate documentation.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex title issues.
- Experience reviewing title commitments, policies, endorsements, surveys, legal descriptions, liens, easements, and ownership documentation.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active attorney license strongly preferred (non-attorney candidates with significant commercial underwriting expertise will be considered).
- Experience underwriting national commercial transactions and multi-state real estate portfolios.
- Underwriting authority or experience working within delegated underwriting authority guidelines.
- Experience with complex ownership structures, entity reviews, ALTA endorsements, survey analysis, and large commercial transactions.
- Proficiency with RamQuest or similar title production and underwriting platforms.

Pay
Estimated pay range: $95,000 - $110,000 annually.
