Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Gain vertical & horizontal access to various stakeholders within each account through use of tools (e.g. value propositions, budget impact models, PIE presentations, etc) in order to influence favorable medical coverage policies for patients, drive optimal prior authorization/reauthorization processes, achieve pharmacy benefit formulary positioning, support Site of Care (SoC) provider relations initiatives, and manage medical/pharmacy department utilization management scopes.
- Partner cross-functionally with Patient Services and internal stakeholders to support case-level payer pull-through and ensure rapid patient access, including proactive engagement with payer accounts to resolve access and coverage barriers.
- Demonstrate a proactive payer engagement approach, maintaining productive relationships with payer decision makers while appropriately advocating for patient access within complex or engagement-sensitive account environments.
- Develop and implement strategy to meet or exceed goals of NS Pharma products for targeted accounts with a heavy focus on brand alignment, finance, and collaborating with key individuals.
- Identify and diagnose opportunities for value-added programs intended to enhance patient experiences and build trusted customer relationships.
- Create and maintain Strategic Account Plans.
- Plan and execute joint business reviews with NSP leadership and National Plan Customers and leadership at least once per year.
- Maintains relationships with senior managed care medical and pharmacy executives based on an understanding of the customer’s organizational structure and strategic priorities.
- Leverage approved resources and internal and external (e.g. Advocacy and Health Care Policy) subject matter experts to communicate the value of viltolarsen and other approved brands to payers and other organizations evaluating them for coverage or formulary inclusion.
- Assume a leadership role in determining if other customers, such as ACOs and private equity groups, represents a partnership opportunity.
- Create and maintain Strategic Account Plans.
- Actively contribute to the effectiveness and success of the internal cross-functional “Local Action Teams”.
- Extend customer network within targeted plans beyond the pharmacy department to areas crucial for the future strategic vision of healthcare delivery.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of the managed care industry and healthcare trends.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of relevant and actionable industry trends through familiarity with utilizing Market Access data sources such as IPD, Policy Reporter, MMIT, and other related analytics sources.
- Manage administrative requirements of the job.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical experience with broad experience across the commercial business in managing strategic relationships across medical and pharmacy benefit payers
- 5+ years of successful payer account management experience within the specialty rare disease market, particularly with infused orphan products, and cell and gene therapies
- Valid Driver's License
- Deep expertise of rare disease/orphan therapy payer medical policy strategy and operations with demonstrated history of favorably influencing medical policy for existing and launch products
- Demonstrated knowledge in medical policy as well as PBM formulary strategy including contracting strategies and coverage negotiations
- Rare Disease and Infusion experience is a must
