About the Role

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry with business in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. This position is based in Elizabeth, New Jersey, a historic city with a proud legacy.

Responsibilities

  • Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts, rider pallet jacks, and other industrial vehicles safely and efficiently to stack, load, store, unload, and move finished goods.
  • Comply with all safety work rules and reinforce safety as a core value; ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality to reduce product and process variability.
  • Perform FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures for all materials and ingredients.
  • Load and unload product from tractor trailers and store in designated areas.
  • Conduct basic quality assurance duties, including visual inspection of finished goods products.
  • Palletize materials, ingredients, and finished products.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory by reporting and receiving authentication of all discrepancies.
  • Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) guidelines; maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Operate robotic equipment as required.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately.
  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and trainings; ensure regular attendance to perform duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent years of experience.
  • Power Industrial Truck Operator’s License.
  • Ability to operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Understanding of product age specifications related to storage and supplying to production areas.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Prior forklift operation experience.
  • Fluency in a language other than English.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Required to wear proper PPE such as hair nets, ear plugs, and earmuffs in certain areas.
  • Occasional bending and stooping.
  • Frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive hand movement.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity.
  • Work environment includes a large, open manufacturing plant floor with loud machinery, wet areas, and varying noise levels.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $20.20 to $25.50 per hour.
