About the role
The Class West Hills Health and Rehabilitation offers a 100% free in-person NA1 training program designed to prepare students for immediate employment as nursing assistants in their award-winning Skilled Nursing Facility. Students who complete the program are eligible for certification through the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Participate in clinicals where you will provide care to residents under the direction of the instructor.
- Attend 5 weeks of in-person course work from Monday to Friday during daytime hours.
- Engage in learning activities that focus on personal care and assisting with activities of daily living.
- Learn the latest skills and techniques to make a positive impact in senior living health care communities.
Requirements
- Must be 17 years or older (with a legal guardian's signature for those under 18).
- Pass a criminal background check and drug test before starting the class.
- Be able to read, write, and communicate in English fluently.
- Pass a final exam with a grade of 80% or higher to proceed in the program.
- Complete a TB test or chest X-ray prior to clinical training.
- Be CPR certified through Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Wear closed-toed, rubber-soled shoes and appropriate nursing scrubs during all class meetings.
- Ensure regular commuting to Southwest Portland for course work.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new techniques quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with residents and staff.
