This position provides financial aid counseling to university students.

Responsibilities

  • Processes student financial aid applications; reviews supporting documents.
  • Monitors daily/weekly reports, identifies discrepancies, and takes necessary actions.
  • Researches student files using online resources.
  • Prepares student awards and determines and applies account corrections.
  • Counsels students on types of financial aid, financial aid policies, and satisfactory academic progress requirements.
  • Uses professional judgement to determine potential aid eligibility within the allowances of policy, procedures, and law.
  • Responds to questions and concerns from students, parents, or guardians.
  • Certifies loans from alternative sources.
  • Requests documents from students to complete the financial aid process.
  • Completes documents requested by external sources.
  • Collaborates with campus departments on student eligibility, scholarships, and other types of aid.
  • Travels to area high schools and makes presentations concerning financial aid processes and procedures.
  • Places non-attending students into repay process; calculates and processes repayments.
  • Enters budget information into the BANNER system.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of extensive onboarding modules, as well as regular participation in federal, state, and professional trainings.
  • Knowledge of financial aid and related federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to incorporate confidentiality into every aspect of the job.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Annual salary of $36,084.00.
