Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service, information, and support for Community Recreation programs and activities.
  • Check patron eligibility to ensure authorized use of recreation facilities, resources, and equipment.
  • Provide information about activities and program offerings.
  • Open and close facilities.
  • Order and restock supplies.
  • Prepare snack bar menu items or prepackaged retail items.
  • Collect fees from customers for tickets, retail and rental items, classes, trips, and other programs using Point of Sales (POS) and computer programs.
  • Ensure accuracy of daily sales transactions and complete a Daily Activity Report (DAR) at the end of every shift.
  • Assist in processing customer Internet registrations (e.g., Net Near You), initial log-ins, and event registrations.
  • Check Community Recreation equipment and resources in and out, collect applicable rental fees, inventory items, and complete inspections upon return.
  • Notify supervisor or program lead of any damage or loss.
  • Ensure all rental or check-out forms are properly completed and reservation and checkout procedures are followed.
  • Conduct inventory, maintain inventory controls, and maintain equipment for proper accountability of program equipment and resources.
  • Assist in administering traditional and non-traditional workshops, clinics, and events in various leisure and recreation skills subject areas, including but not limited to camping, cycling, sailing, backpacking, canoeing, snow skiing, hiking, and water sports.
  • Provide recreation experiences related to leisure skill sets in the form of day and weekend trips.
  • Assist in day-to-day administration of multiple programs, including submission of event after-action reports, patronage data collection, and entering program data.
  • Perform inventory of equipment, retail goods, supplies, and items with cash value.
  • Perform administrative duties using computer software programs that track resource inventories, patron usage/comments, and program standards metrics.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and scheduling of Community Recreation staff.
  • Support the command statement on adherence to EEO principles and policies.
  • Assist in the planning, coordinating, publicizing, marketing, and execution of MWR programs and special events.
  • Perform entertainment and promotion scheduling.
  • Assist in updating electronic and multimedia support tools as needed.
  • Promote MWR facilities and events through outreach opportunities on base.
  • Promote use of recreational E-reading resources available through online MWR Library Program resources.
  • Develop working partnerships with on-base and off-base organizations (e.g., park districts, forest preserves, clubs, special interest groups) to support and benefit MWR programs.
  • Perform community outreach to assist in the development of contacts.
  • Assist in the creation of professional proposals, execution of agreements, and follow-up.
  • Research and provide information and referral for a variety of recreational opportunities for individuals and families on and off the base.
  • Adhere to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation requirements.
  • Initiate and follow up on maintenance trouble calls to resolve equipment or facility issues.
  • Provide support for Community Recreation event setup and breakdown.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that pertain to the position.
