Responsibilities
- Provides customer service, information, and support for Community Recreation programs and activities, including checking patron eligibility, providing program information, opening and closing facilities, ordering and restocking supplies, and preparing snack bar or retail items.
- Assists in the day-to-day administration of assigned programs, including submitting event after-action reports, collecting patronage data, and entering program data.
- Facilitates recreation experiences such as day and weekend trips focused on leisure skill sets.
- Assists in administering workshops, clinics, and events in various leisure and recreation skills (e.g., camping, cycling, sailing, backpacking, canoeing, snow skiing, hiking, and water sports).
- Conducts inventory, maintains inventory controls, and ensures proper accountability of program equipment and resources.
- Ensures rental or check-out forms are completed correctly and reservation procedures are followed; notifies supervisor of any damage or loss.
- Checks Community Recreation equipment in and out, collects rental fees, inventories items, and inspects them upon return.
- Assists with customer Internet registrations, initial logins, and event registrations (e.g., Net Near You).
- Manages daily sales transactions, completes a Daily Activity Report (DAR) at the end of each shift, and collects fees for tickets, retail, rentals, classes, trips, and other programs using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Performs inventory of equipment, retail goods, supplies, and items with cash value.
- Supports event setup and breakdown for Community Recreation programs.
- Initiates and follows up on maintenance trouble calls to resolve equipment or facility issues.
- Adheres to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation requirements.
- Researches and provides information and referrals for recreational opportunities on and off the base.
- Assists in creating professional proposals, executing agreements, and follow-up tasks.
- Performs community outreach to develop contacts and partnerships with on-base and off-base organizations (e.g., park districts, forest preserves, clubs, special interest groups) to support MWR programs.
- Promotes recreational E-reading resources available through the online MWR Library Program.
- Seeks outreach opportunities to promote MWR facilities and events on base.
- Assists in updating electronic and multimedia support tools as needed.
- Handles entertainment and promotion scheduling.
- Assists in planning, coordinating, publicizing, marketing, and executing MWR programs and special events.
- Supports recruitment, training, and scheduling of Community Recreation staff.
- Performs administrative duties using computer software programs to track resource inventories, patron usage, comments, and program metrics.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
