Music Therapist - Sunday through Thursday 9am-5pm

Responsibilities

• Affirms and coordinates new and stimulating activities in specialty areas.
• Supports Residents in adapting to new lifestyles and maintaining previous interests and activities.
• Prepares, prints, and distributes monthly calendars, newsletters, and memos to Residents.
• Facilitates and leads planned activities independently, managing parallel programming.
• Engages with residents in small groups or one-on-one programs during unscheduled times.
• Cultivates positive social interactions among residents and staff.
• Becomes proficient with audio/visual equipment such as DVD/VCR, amplifiers, tape decks, microphones, and sound systems.
• Collects and categorizes Resident monies for special activities or events.
• Uses knowledge of Residents' backgrounds, hobbies, interests, and languages to encourage involvement.
• Reports on the success, participation rates, and issues encountered from each activity or assignment to the Lifestyle Director.
• Attends in-services and educational seminars to enhance understanding of dementia care and recreation programs.
• Maintains a professional appearance by wearing the company-issued uniform.
• Assists in the dining room and bistro, including during alternate dining periods, as needed.
• Performs other tasks and assists in other departments as directed by the Lifestyle Director, Director of Reflections, Executive Director/General Manager, or supervisor on duty.

Qualifications

Knowledge of audio/visual equipment is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and volunteers.
