Position Details
Start Date would be early August for the upcoming 2026 - 2027 Regular School Year
Location: Culver City
Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver vocal and/or instrumental music instruction for elementary through high school students, including classes and production groups of up to 14 students
- Coordinate class schedules with school administration and support music programming during school hours, with occasional after-school and weekend productions
- Collaborate with teacher specialists to align music curriculum with state academic standards
- Plan and oversee student performances, including organizing productions, creating promotional materials, and communicating with families to coordinate volunteers
- Use a multidisciplinary approach by working with staff to support students' behavioral and cognitive needs, and collaborate with the drama teacher as musical director when needed
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, supervision sessions, and assist with school events and other assigned duties
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Education or a related field is required
- Special Education credential is preferred; or the ability to qualify for an Intern Credential Provisional Internship Permit or Short-Term Staff Permit
- Relevant experience in vocal and/or instrumental music instruction
- At least 5 years of experience teaching music to children in individual, group, or classroom settings
- At least 2 years of experience working with children with special needs
- Experience producing or directing children's musical performances is preferred
- Knowledge of positive behavior management strategies and the ability to follow supervisory guidance
- Strong communication, collaboration, and computer skills
