Music Publisher & Engraver – Internship
To meet the needs of the Church, we seek to build teams that represent the diverse perspectives, broad life experiences and backgrounds of our global Church membership. With that in mind, we encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
About the role
The purpose of this position is to spread the message of the restored Church of Jesus Christ around the world through music. Many Church messages are delivered as music via print, web, app/mobile, social media, streaming, and other delivery channels in 100+ languages. This role is part of the Publishing Services Department (PSD) of the Church. The material produced, managed, and published by the music publishing team encompasses all music content for the Church. Core projects include: the new Hymns collection, Youth Theme music, Magazine music, Temple dedication arrangements, and others.
In addition to providing engraved sheet music, the music publishing team helps curate online databases for Church music libraries and assists with archival and restoration activities. This internship role would assist in transitioning language files from Finale to Dorico. While this role may not involve writing or engraving original music or participating in audio recordings, it requires critical engraving problem-solving skills to ensure the sheet music is properly preserved during this transition of systems.
The ideal candidate has previous engraving experience, high music literacy, understanding of vocal and instrumental styles of music, knowledge of music styles in print and performance globally, and a flexible, creative mind that is willing to collaborate and meet challenges head-on. This role is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and will follow a hybrid work schedule with some in-office days required.
