Music - Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty

Sinclair Community College is seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach face-to-face music courses at the Dayton campus. This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states.

About the Role

The Sinclair Music Program provides a comprehensive foundation, fulfilling the first two years of a bachelor’s degree in music, with a strong emphasis on public performance. The program equips students with the skills and academic preparation necessary for success in advanced music studies and professional performance opportunities.

The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach. Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Responsibilities

• Teach curriculum developed by the department
• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information

Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with Tested Experience in the content area required; master’s degree in music or a master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the content area preferred
• Proven and successful vocal studio teaching experience, at a variety of student experience levels required
• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
• Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community
• Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction
• Official transcripts for all post-secondary degrees and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to date of hire
