Music Instructor - SC/ Orange County-11-145

Essential Functions

• Planning and preparing lessons based on students’ needs, aims and abilities.
• Acquiring teaching materials and resources.
• Teaching music theory, listening skills and practical musicianship.
• Preparing students for practice, recitals and performances.
• Motivating students and encouraging progress in a positive environment.
• Attending staff meetings.
• Communicating with parents and music school leads.
• Planning for and/or arranging recitals and concerts for students’ families and friends.
• Being responsible for musical instruments and room while teaching.

Working Conditions

• Sit for long periods of time with breaks.
• Walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
• Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
• Operate computer and telephone.
• Lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

• EDUCATION – AA or BA degree in Music preferred. Equivalent knowledge and experience are highly considered.
• EXPERIENCE – Three years of teaching experience preferred. Demonstrate practical and theoretical knowledge of music performance and teaching. Communicate instrumental and vocal techniques to students in a positive learning environment.
• Bilingual/Bi-literate English/Spanish a plus.

Pay Range and Hours

This is a part-time employee position, 3-15 hours per week depending on student enrollment and teacher schedule. $30-$36 per hour, DOE.
