Essential Functions
- Planning and preparing lessons based on students’ needs, aims and abilities.
- Acquiring teaching materials and resources.
- Teaching music theory, listening skills and practical musicianship.
- Preparing students for practice, recitals and performances.
- Motivating students and encouraging progress in a positive environment.
- Attending staff meetings.
- Communicating with parents and music school leads.
- Planning for and/or arranging recitals and concerts for students’ families and friends.
- Being responsible for musical instruments and room while teaching.
Working Conditions
- Sit for long periods of time with breaks.
- Walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
- Operate computer and telephone.
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- EDUCATION – AA or BA degree in Music preferred. Equivalent knowledge and experience are highly considered.
- EXPERIENCE – Three years of teaching experience preferred. Demonstrate practical and theoretical knowledge of music performance and teaching. Communicate instrumental and vocal techniques to students in a positive learning environment.
- Bilingual/Bi-literate English/Spanish a plus.

Pay Range and Hours
This is a part-time employee position, 3-15 hours per week depending on student enrollment and teacher schedule. $30-$36 per hour, DOE.
