Responsibilities

The Music Events Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating complex performance and educational activities that bring nationally and internationally recognized musicians, educators, and performers to the University of Idaho and the surrounding Palouse community. Key responsibilities include:

  • Cooking logistics for performances, workshops, clinics, educational programs, and special events.
  • Supporting artist and participant engagement through various means.
  • Facilitating communication among internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and professional program delivery.
  • Contributing to the comprehensive, nationally competitive music program at the Lionel Hampton School of Music (LHSOM).
  • Advancing the University's visibility and reputation in music education and performance while strengthening connections with the broader community.

Requirements

Essential requirements for this position include:

  • Event management experience, including planning, marketing, budgeting, and record keeping.
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, graphic design, email, and internet research.
  • Maintaining professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • One year planning and producing music and/or artistic events.
  • Hiring, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating employees.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Understanding of music as a performer, educator, or enthusiast.
  • Experience working in a university setting.
  • Marketing, social media, advertising, and/or design experience.
  • Experience planning and coordinating contracts.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move up to 40 pounds on occasion, sit at a desk and work on a computer for long periods of time, and meet U of I driving requirements.
