Position Summary/Responsibilities

Direct 4th and 5th grade string orchestra
Teach lessons on all string instruments
Teach general music classes
Create engaging, student-centered instruction that adheres to GCSD arts curriculum and NYS standards using various teaching methods.

Design and deliver instruction that meets the diverse learning needs and styles of students.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and evidence-based interventions as needed.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress and potential areas for improvement.

Stay current with best practices in music education and professional development opportunities.
Potentially teach in a variety of areas including band, vocal/general music, and strings.

Participate in evening concerts and district, county, and state-wide music festivals as applicable to the position.

Minimum Requirements

NYS Teaching Certification in Music
Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of and experience in string pedagogy and directing orchestra.

• A passion for music and for inspiring students to love learning.
• Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards for the Arts.
