About the role

MUS3610H Music Entrepreneurship: Music & Cities is a business course for musicians. The course covers topics such as incorporation, accounting and taxation, and methods of finance specific to the music industry. Students will analyze models of commerce and review case studies to formulate and present a business plan. The course also applies research, best practices, and models from the international Music Cities movement.

Responsibilities

  • Define course objectives and materials
  • Provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations
  • Teach classes as scheduled
  • Administer and evaluate student assignments
  • Prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy
  • Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Music Business or closely related field
  • Industry experience in the cultural sector, including expert knowledge of business models, accounting, taxation, and publicity relevant for music performers, creators, and producers
  • Experience as an artist in music performance, creation, or production
  • Qualifications
