Municipal Security Officer

About the role

The City of Avondale is seeking a Municipal Security Officer to serve as the welcoming face of safety for the city. This role involves protecting city facilities while providing exceptional customer service to the public.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the City Hall complex, including City Hall, Library, City Court, and Police building, both on foot and in a patrol vehicle.
• Maintains video surveillance of all City complexes and monitors assigned locations for emergencies or suspicious activities.
• Communicates via portable radio to maintain contact with the Police Department resources.
• Evaluates and resolves customer service-related complaints and identifies and reports safety hazards, security concerns, and other deficiencies.
• Responds to emergency situations and performs security for City Council meetings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• One (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in a law enforcement, security, detention, or related position.
• Valid Arizona Operator’s Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass a certified Defensive Tactics Training Course.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph examination, and psychological examination.
• Rotational schedule participation required, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of industrial security policy and procedures, and electronic security alarms and systems.
• Skilled in using portable radios for clear communication and in responding effectively to emergency situations.
• Must obtain DPS Terminal Operator Certificate (TOC) within six (6) months of hire.
• Must obtain Court Security Officer Certification through the Arizona Court Security Guard Academy within one (1) year of hire date.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $38,000 - $45,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This position requires participation in a rotational schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
