Summary The Municipal and Structured Finance Product Controller ensures accurate profit and loss (P&L) reporting and balance sheet validation for the Municipal Fixed Income trading desks. This position acts as the primary control partner to Front Office trading, Risk Management, and Financial Accounting. Essential Job Duties Work closely with front office personnel in producing daily, weekly, and monthly P&L results and analysis.Investigate and resolve P&L discrepancies arising from incorrect booking of trades, missing deals, system errors, or valuation issues.Liaison with various areas within the firm (e.g., Front Office, Operations, Technology, Middle Office, and Market Risk)Continue developing and improving the Internal Control environment through critical evaluation of current controls and processes and utilization of best practice.Complete the month end closing process for balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation.Ad hoc requests from the deskDrive process and system improvements through participation in various project initiatives.Assess new trades for appropriate valuation, accounting treatment, and disclosure in the financial statements. Qualifications 5+ years of Product Control experience –Experience with Municipals securities required.Deep product knowledge of municipal bonds, structured municipal finance, and tax-exempt markets.Strong understanding of accounting principles including Available for Sale (AFS)High attention to detailAdaptive person and collaboratorStrong analytic and critical thinking skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to clearly articulate ideasAccounting or Finance degree required. CPA a plus. The expected base salary ranges from $115,000 - $200,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, including Medical, Dental and 401K plans, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
