About the role

Spectrum News is a network of over 30 hyper-local news and regional sports networks. We produce original, unbiased, and high-quality content using innovative journalistic approaches and comprehensive research. Our newsrooms publish via the Spectrum News app and connected television, offering 24-hour news coverage.

Responsibilities

• Talk to members of your community to uncover perspectives that might otherwise go unreported.
• Take ownership of each step of the storytelling process, from pitching to writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing.
• Create compelling, timely, and accurate coverage across traditional and digital platforms.
• Connect with viewers across multiple platforms, including TV, connected television, and digital.
• Work under time pressure deadlines and be willing to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies.
• Work weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years in television news reporting.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience.
• Technical Skills: Ability to shoot videos, understanding of video editing software, and utilize social media effectively.
• Skills: Ability to communicate effectively on camera and through writing and verbal expression.
• Abilities: Innate curiosity and a sense of urgency when creating compelling stories.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a 24-hour news channel.

• Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence.

The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.

Schedule

Ability to work under time pressure deadlines and willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies, ability work weekends and holidays.
