About the role

Spectrum News is a network of over 30 hyper-local news and regional sports networks. Our mission is to produce original, unbiased, and high-quality content using innovative journalistic approaches and comprehensive research. We distribute news through TV, the Spectrum News app, and connected television.

Responsibilities

• Talk to members of your community to uncover perspectives that might otherwise go unreported.
• Take ownership of the storytelling process from pitching to writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing.
• Create compelling, timely, and accurate coverage across traditional and digital platforms.
• Connect with viewers across multiple platforms including TV, connected television, and digital.

Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years in television news reporting.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience.
• Technical Skills: Ability to shoot videos, understand video editing software, and utilize social media effectively.
• Skills: Effective communication on camera and through writing and verbal expression.
• Abilities: Curiosity and a sense of urgency in creating compelling stories.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a 24-hour news channel.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence.
• Ability to work under time pressure deadlines and willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.
