About the role

12 News is looking for a dynamic multimedia journalist to join the morning news team. The ideal candidate will produce compelling stories and live shots, demonstrating excellent news judgment, strong writing, and adaptability in breaking-news situations.

Responsibilities

• Work with the news director and assignment desk to plan daily assignments
• Exercise sound news judgment and adhere to journalism ethics
• Write, report, and produce engaging stories for broadcast and digital platforms
• Shoot, edit, and publish content for social media and online news production
• Organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
• Operate field cameras, editing software, and lighting equipment
• Perform live reporting, including ad-libbing during breaking news
• Work day, evening, or extended shifts as needed, including travel
• Lift and carry equipment weighing 35–50 lbs.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Represent the station professionally in the community, newsroom, and on social media
• Incorporate feedback to continuously improve performance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism or a related field
• On-air television reporting experience preferred (training available for the right candidate)
• Familiarity with newsroom computer systems (e.g., ENPS) is a plus
• Proficiency in AP Style (digital) and broadcast writing (television)
• Ability to operate field production and editing equipment
• Strong desire to succeed and grow in a competitive news environment
