WINK NEWS MMJ/REPORTER: As a Multimedia Journalist you are responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content and editing stories for multiple platforms. Video Journalists report, write, capture quality visual content, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadlines. Qualifications Candidate must have a proven track record of strong storytelling skills, source-building, enterprise reporting, digging and handling breaking newsExcellent time management skills are a mustAbility to perform live shotsHas the ability to function as an MMJ Work cooperatively with videographer if assigned Must Have Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experienceMinimum two years’ experience in news reportingValid driver’s license with a good driving record requiredFlexibility to work any shift Additional Requirement Must be able carry and setup ENG equipment often weighing 50lbsSuperior on-air presenceAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to shoot broadcast-quality video, edit and feed content back to the station Responsibilities The MMJ will work with assignment editors, producers and news leadership to report on breaking news, enterprise stories and highly promotable news content specific to the region assignedReports news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of eventsArranges interviews with people who can provide information about storiesReviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelinesReviews and evaluates notes taken about event aspects to isolate pertinent facts and detailsDetermines a story’s emphasis, length, and format, and organizes material accordinglyResearches and analyzes background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate informationGathers information about events through research, interviews, experience, or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functionsPitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local communityGathers tips and information to develop story ideasChecks reference materials such as books, news files or public records to obtain relevant factsMakes meaningful and frequent (daily) contributions to the station’s digital and social media platformsRevises work to meet editorial approval or to fit time requirementsShoots and edits news events and news reportsProduces and presents reports for all platformsEnsures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production qualityWrites stories for the web and other digital platformsInteracts with viewers/users on social media sitesPerforms special projects and other duties as assignedWillingness to work nonconventional hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends Physical Requirements Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periodsClear verbal and written communication in person, by phone, and via videoOperate standard office and recording equipmentTravel, including local driving to field locations or meetingsNavigate indoor and outdoor environments as needed for reportingAble to lift up to 50 poundsVisual and auditory ability to conduct interviews and review content Benefits: Full-time new hires: Eligible to participate in all Company benefit plans, including: Health, Dental, Vision, and HSA (effective 1st of the month after 30 days; subject to plan terms) Company-paid life insurance and EAP; voluntary short-term disability PTO (accrual-based) and company-paid holidays 401(k) Equal Employment Opportunity Statement WINK News is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
