Multimedia Journalist

About the role

The News Department at TelevisaUnivision is seeking a Multimedia Journalist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will embody a commitment to serving our local community.

Responsibilities

• Generate story ideas and make contacts with community leaders, government officials, and local authorities.
• Present reports clearly, concisely, and objectively; develop and execute enterprising stories and sweeps series ideas.
• Work collaboratively with the team, demonstrating strong news judgment and the ability to complete stories independently.
• Report and produce content for all Univision media platforms, including website, Facebook, and other social media.
• Manage and update content on digital platforms as directed by Digital Content Producers.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and national news and events.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with community members and stakeholders.
• Operate independently in various weather conditions and perform tasks such as gathering information, conducting interviews, shooting video, and editing stories.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or Television Broadcasting is preferred.
• One year of newsroom experience is required; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Excellent command of both Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in newsroom computer systems and applications, including newsroom software, video editing tools (Avid, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut), and file sharing systems.
• Advanced knowledge in field camera operation, equipment, and editing systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for up to 8 hours without restriction, and lift up to 30 pounds for extended periods.

• Experience with social media management and content creation.
• Knowledge of broadcast journalism principles and practices.
