MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST
The Herald-Standard, a 6,000-circulation daily and the leading source of information for Fayette and Greene counties, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist to join the staff. We collaborate with our sister daily newspaper, the Observer-Reporter in neighboring Washington County, to deliver news to readers in the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania. Since its founding over 200 years ago, the Herald-Standard has been integral to the growth of Southwestern Pennsylvania, covering important events and providing vital information to our community.
About the role
As a Reporter for the Herald-Standard, you will learn and employ all techniques for effective digital storytelling, maintain clear communication with the editor, and meet daily deadlines for both print and digital audiences. You will contribute to a positive culture of teamwork and collaboration while creating content for print and digital platforms, including special projects. This role requires strong audio and visual skills, along with the ability to write clearly and concisely.
Responsibilities
- Deliver stories quickly and accurately for print and digital audiences.
- Engage with the community we serve and connect with readers.
- Produce content with both print and digital audiences in mind.
- Work on special projects for the newspaper.
- Meet daily deadlines and reprioritize assignments as needed in a fast-paced newsroom.
Requirements
- A college degree.
- A driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- An interest in talking and meeting with people.
- A love of your community and sharing your perspective with others.
- Strong reporting, writing, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
